Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA ), and the American Dental Association (ADA). We follow the activities of these agencies closely,  so that we are always up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. These changes will help protect you and us both. For example:

UPON ARRIVAL:

  • Everyone in the building must wear a mask at all times except during treatment
  • We are screening all patients before their appointment and upon arrival
  • Checking every patient’s temperature and our staff is checked up arrival and right before departure

BEFORE APPT BEGINS:

  • Hygienist will have patient brush their teeth to reduce biofilm
  • Patient will swish with Pre-rinse:
  • Either diluted peroxide for two increments of 30 seconds
OR diluted iodine for 15 seconds
  • Patient will wash hands for 20 seconds

APPT MAY NOW BEGIN:

  • Medify air purifiers are on at all times, filtering out harmful virus and bacteria.
  • Hygienists wash hands for 20 seconds at beginning of appointment and as needed throughout the appointment
  • New Releaf suction is placed inside patients mouth for the duration of their cleaning to help reduce aerosols
  • Hygienists are in full PPE: Full length scrubs, N95 masks, protective eye wear, face shield, scrub cap, gloves
